of The Bad Volunteer

a book by Mary Flannery

Before joining the Peace Corps, Mary Flannery was an English teacher in Kyoto, Japan, and then traveled for years in Asia, stopping in India for a year to study sitar and vocal music. In the early 80's she worked at Manhattan School of Music and at CARE in New York. After the Peace Corps, she taught English and studied flamenco guitar in Seville, Spain.

She is presently working as a producer/director/writer/editor/composer for a small video production company in Washington, DC. Her documentaries have aired on PBS, The Learning Channel, National Geographic TV, and around the world.

THE BAD VOLUNTEER is her first book. She hopes to write many more.
